Fort Hunt Elementary Student Adopts Glass Recycling As A Business

Fort Hunt Elementary student Emily Holland has started a unique business around mid-April. Holland said, “I noticed that a lot of glass had been going into landfills and trash instead of recycling, and it takes glass a really long time to disintegrate. So I thought, I could pick up people’s glass for a really low price. 2020 Valor Awards Held By Chamber ALX

The 2020 Valor Awards was held by the Chamber ALX on  Aug. 27 at the Hilton Old Town Alexandria. It was a hybrid ceremony that adhered to social distancing guidelines while honoring the city’s first responders for their heroic actions in the line of duty. The Pandemic Awards were new this year, presented to healthcare and essential services personnel working on the front lines of the COVID-19 pandemic. 150 Years Of Alexandria Police Department

The 150th anniversary of the founding of the Alexandria Police Department was marked with an informal gathering on July 15 at police headquarters. Sgt. Biruk Dessalegn, a school resource supervisor said, “There are not a lot of agencies worldwide that are this old.
